An Enhanced Information Retrieval Method Based on Ontology for Bridge Inspection

Bridge management systems (BMSs) are widely used to assist an inspector in performing element-level bridge inspection. Retrieving and determining target elements be inspected becomes important factor the efficiency of This paper presents enhanced information retrieval (IR) method based on ontology predict elements. The novelty this is that improved seven-step automatic mapping technology proposed construct a new inspection (BIontology), which provides knowledge base for present IR method. A further software architecture designed integrating ontology, promising prototype system developed realize using SPARQL query. In addition, novel prediction algorithm automatically recommend case study construction performed demonstrate can accelerate BIontology compared with manual implemented verify outperforms existing method, thereby validating effectiveness
